Description
Function of the Oil Pump
The oil pump is the heart of the engine’s lubrication system, pressurising and circulating engine oil to all moving parts. It draws oil from the sump and pushes it through the oil filter and into the engine’s oil galleries, lubricating bearings, pistons, camshafts, and other components. A failing oil pump causes low oil pressure, engine noise, accelerated wear, and can lead to catastrophic engine failure within minutes.
