Description
Function of the Fuel Injector
The fuel injector sprays precisely metered fuel into the combustion chamber at exactly the right moment. The ECU controls injection timing and duration for optimal combustion, power, and emissions. A faulty injector causes misfires, rough idle, poor fuel economy, excessive smoke, and reduced power.
Common Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
A generic OBD reader shows the 5-character code; the GWM system stores the 7-character extended form shown in brackets.
- P0201 [P020100] — Injector 1 drive circuit — open circuit (cylinder 1)
- P0262 [P026200] — Injector 1 drive circuit — short, high/low side (cylinder 1)
- P0263 [P026300] — Cylinder 1 contribution/balance — misfire traced to injector 1
- P062D [P062D00] — Injector group 1 drive circuit — short to ground
