Description

Function of the Brake/Clutch Pedal Switch

The brake and clutch pedal switches are electrical sensors that detect when these pedals are pressed. The brake switch activates the brake lights and signals the ECU (for cruise control disengagement and start interlock). The clutch switch signals the ECU that the clutch is depressed, which is required for starting in many vehicles. A faulty switch causes brake lights staying on or not working, cruise control issues, or inability to start.
