Description
Function of the Cylinder Sleeve
The cylinder sleeve (liner) provides the precision-machined bore surface in which the piston travels. It must maintain a perfectly round, smooth surface to ensure proper piston ring sealing and lubrication. Over time, cylinder walls wear into an oval shape, causing compression loss and oil burning. Replacing the sleeve restores the cylinder to factory specifications, essential during any engine rebuild.
