Description
Function of the Electric Side Mirror
The electric side mirror gives the driver a clear rearward view of the lane and blind spot alongside the vehicle, and is adjusted from inside the cabin using a switch on the door trim or dashboard. Small electric motors inside the mirror housing tilt the glass on two axes so the driver can set the correct angle without leaving the seat, and heated variants include an element behind the glass that clears mist, frost, or rain for visibility in poor weather. A faulty electric mirror can cause the glass to stop adjusting in one or both directions, fail to hold its position, lose heating function, or — if the housing is cracked or the glass shattered — fail a roadworthy inspection. Replacing the mirror restores full driver visibility and adjustment from the cabin.
