SCOPE
This agreement covers the installation of fuel injectors and high-pressure fuel pumps. All requirements must be followed by RMI-certified technicians.
1. PRE-INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
FOR ALL FUEL SYSTEM COMPONENTS:
-
Compression test carried out, measured in bar, and documented as per manufacturer's specifications.
-
New premium quality fuel filter installed.
-
Fuel lines inspected and flushed.
-
Fuel tank removed and cleaned.
-
New, clean fuel filled into the vehicle.
FOR FUEL INJECTORS - ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
-
Inspect all injector seats for old washers.
-
Ensure all chambers are free of carbon build-up.
-
Inspect seats for damage and wear.
-
Ultrasonically clean the high-pressure fuel rail.
-
Inspect high-pressure pipes to the injector rail - ensure no dirt/foreign particles present.
FOR HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS - ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
-
Inspect pump drive mechanism (timing belt/chain/gear) for wear, damage, or incorrect tension.
-
Verify correct engine timing before pump installation (if mechanically driven).
-
Inspect low-pressure fuel supply system and verify adequate fuel supply pressure.
-
Check and document condition of all high-pressure fuel lines, connectors, and seals.
-
Verify fuel pressure relief valve is functioning correctly.
-
Inspect camshaft drive lobe/eccentric (if cam-driven) for wear or damage.
2. INSTALLATION PROCEDURES
FOR FUEL INJECTORS:
-
Remove injectors from packaging only when ready to install, ensuring correct supplied washers are fitted.
-
Ensure hands are clean and dirt-free before installing injectors into cylinders.
-
Install new injector hold-down bolts as per manufacturer's specifications.
-
Ensure correct torque procedure is applied.
-
Ensure correct bleeding procedure of fuel system is carried out.
-
No starting additive should be used when attempting to start the vehicle.
FOR HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS:
-
Ensure pump mounting surface is clean and free from old gasket material or contamination.
-
Install new pump mounting bolts and torque to manufacturer's specifications.
-
Apply manufacturer-recommended lubricant to pump components where specified.
-
Verify correct pump orientation and alignment.
-
Ensure electrical connections (if applicable) are secure and properly seated.
-
PRIME THE HIGH-PRESSURE PUMP BEFORE FIRST START (MANDATORY).
-
Ensure correct bleeding procedure of fuel system is carried out.
-
No starting additive should be used when attempting to start the vehicle.
3. POST-INSTALLATION TESTING
MANDATORY FOR HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS
For high-pressure fuel pumps, the following tests are mandatory:
-
Conduct fuel system pressure test using calibrated diagnostic equipment.
-
Document actual fuel pressure readings at idle and under load.
-
Verify absence of fuel leaks at all connections under operating pressure.
-
Confirm proper engine performance and absence of fault codes.
-
Test drive vehicle and verify normal operation under various load conditions.
4. WARRANTY DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (ALL COMPONENTS):
-
Installation invoice from RMI-certified workshop.
-
Printed report stating all required steps have been completed.
-
Photographic evidence of installation process (recommended).
-
Maintenance and service records.
ADDITIONAL FOR HIGH-PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS:
-
Pre and post-installation fuel pressure readings with calibrated equipment.
-
Confirmation of timing verification (if applicable).
-
Drive mechanism inspection report.
-
Post-installation test drive report with technician sign-off.
IMPORTANT: Failure to provide complete documentation will result in claim rejection. Hand-written reports not accepted.
5. WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS
