Function of the Crank Shaft Sprocket

The crank shaft sprocket is the small toothed gear pressed onto the nose of the crankshaft, at the bottom of the timing chain run, that drives the timing chain and through it the camshafts and VVT phaser. Worn or hooked teeth let the chain ride up and skip, which throws the valve timing out, sets a camshaft or crankshaft correlation fault and can put the valves into the pistons. The teeth wear together with the chain, so replace the crank sprocket, camshaft sprocket, chain, tensioner and guides as a set rather than fitting a new chain over a worn sprocket.

Fits the GW4G15 1.5 VVT and GW4G13 1.3 VVT petrol engines, including the GW4G15B and GW4G15T turbo versions, as used in the GWM Florid, GWM Florid Cross, GWM C10, GWM C20R, GWM C30, GWM C50, GWM CB150, GWM M4, Haval H1, Haval H2 and Haval H6 1.5.
