Function of the Drive Shaft

The drive shaft (half shaft) transmits rotational power from the gearbox to the wheel hub through the inner and outer CV joints. It must accommodate changes in length and angle as the suspension moves and the wheels are steered. A damaged drive shaft causes vibration, clicking sounds during turns, and clunking on acceleration.
