Description
Function of the Intake Camshaft
The intake camshaft controls the opening and closing of the intake valves, regulating when fresh air (or air-fuel mixture) enters the combustion chambers. Its precisely machined lobes push the valves open at exactly the right moment and for the correct duration to optimise engine breathing and power. A worn or damaged intake camshaft causes poor engine performance, rough idle, misfires, and reduced power output.
