Description
Function of the VVTi Oil Control Valve Solenoid
The VVTi oil control valve solenoid directs pressurised oil to the VVTi gear to adjust camshaft timing. Controlled by the ECU, it precisely varies the oil flow to advance or retard valve timing based on engine speed and load. A malfunctioning solenoid causes rough idle, poor performance, rattling noise on startup, reduced fuel economy, and a check engine light.
