Description
Function of the AC Blower Motor
The AC blower motor is the electric fan inside the dashboard that pushes air through the evaporator and heater core and out of the vents, so it is the part that decides whether you actually feel the air conditioning or heater working. When the blower motor starts to fail you typically get weak airflow even on the highest fan speed, a fan that only works on some speeds or cuts in and out, a squealing, rattling or grinding noise from behind the glovebox that changes with fan speed, or no airflow at all while the compressor still engages. A worn blower also draws more current than it should, which overheats the blower resistor or control module and blows the fan fuse, so replacing a noisy or intermittent blower early saves the rest of the HVAC system. This is a complete aftermarket blower fan assembly with the motor and squirrel cage fan fitted to the housing, ready to plug in and bolt into the evaporator box. Fits the GW4D20M 2.0 turbo diesel GWM P-Series Commercial and GWM P-Series Passenger single cab and double cab bakkies.
Common Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
A generic OBD reader shows the 5-character code; the GWM system stores the 7-character extended form shown in brackets.
- B1420 [B142011] — Blower control terminal short-circuited to ground or open-circuited
- B1420 [B142015] — Blower control terminal short-circuited to power or open-circuited
- B1420 [B142016] — Blower voltage abnormal
These codes are stored by the climate control module. Check the blower fuse, the blower control module and the connector at the blower before condemning the motor, then replace the blower if it spins stiffly, is noisy or draws excessive current.
Why order it from Partszar
Body electrics wear out one speed, one switch and one light at a time, and by the time they stop completely the trip is already spoilt. Fix it while it is still a small job and the cab is comfortable and everything works at the touch of a button again.
