Description
Function of the Turbocharger
The turbocharger uses exhaust gas energy to compress intake air, forcing more air into the engine for significantly increased power output. Exhaust gases spin a turbine connected to a compressor, which pressurises the intake air. A turbo can increase engine power by 30-40% without increasing engine size. Turbo failure causes loss of power, excessive smoke (blue or black), whining or grinding noise, and oil leaks into the intake or exhaust system.
Why order it from Partszar
A tired turbo does not fail quietly. It sheds oil and metal into the intercooler and intake, and the longer it runs the more of the air system it takes with it. Catch it early and you replace one part instead of cleaning out the whole system.
- Fitment checked before it is listed. Every part is cross-referenced against the official parts catalogue and OEM part number so it fits first time. If your vehicle is listed above, this is the one you need. Not sure? Send us your VIN using the contact form below and we confirm the exact part for free, no obligation.
- Dispatched fast, tracked to your door. In-stock parts leave within 1 to 2 business days and reach you anywhere in South Africa in 2 to 5 business days with tracking. Back-order parts are sourced directly from our supplier, typically 3 to 4 weeks, and we keep you updated by email.
- Decide with confidence. Selected parts carry our 6-month limited guarantee when fitted by an RMI-approved mechanic. Not sure about anything? Contact us below before you order.
Common Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
These turbocharger-related codes can be caused by the turbocharger, actuator, wiring, boost leaks, intake or exhaust restrictions, or the boost-pressure sensing system. Confirm the fault and inspect the complete system before replacing parts.
- P023400 (P0234 on a generic scanner) – Turbocharger control pressure too high (overboost)
- P029900 (P0299 on a generic scanner) – Turbocharger control pressure too low (underboost)
- P104D00 (P104D on a generic scanner) – Turbocharger position control deviation exceeds the limit
- P181D00 (P181D on a generic scanner) – Turbocharger closed-loop control failed
- P226C00 (P226C on a generic scanner) – Slow response of the turbocharger
