Description

Function of the Valve Stem Seals

Valve stem seals control the amount of oil that lubricates the valve stems as they move within the valve guides. They prevent excess oil from being drawn into the combustion chamber while ensuring enough lubrication to prevent stem wear. Worn valve stem seals cause blue smoke on startup (oil pools on valves overnight), increased oil consumption, and fouled spark plugs.
