Description
Function of the Camshaft Oil Seal
The camshaft oil seal prevents oil from leaking at the front of the cylinder head where the camshaft exits to engage with the timing system. A leaking camshaft seal allows oil to contaminate the timing belt or chain area, which can cause belt degradation and slippage. This seal should be replaced during timing service as preventive maintenance.
