Description
Function of the Brake Pads
Brake pads are the friction material that presses against the brake disc to create the stopping force. They must withstand extreme heat and pressure while providing consistent, fade-resistant braking performance. Worn brake pads produce a squealing warning sound, reduce stopping power, increase stopping distances, and will eventually damage the brake disc if the friction material wears through to the metal backing plate.
