Description
Function of the Transmission Oil Pan
The transmission oil pan holds the gearbox fluid and provides a mounting point for the filter or strainer. Transmission fluid lubricates gears, bearings, and clutch packs while also providing hydraulic pressure for gear selection. A damaged oil pan causes fluid leaks, low transmission fluid level, overheating, and eventual gearbox failure.
