Function of the Brake Pads

Brake pads are the friction material that presses against the brake disc to create the stopping force. On a vehicle the size of the GWM P300 with its substantial kerb weight, double cab payload capacity and braked towing rating the front brake pads do the majority of the work and must withstand extreme heat and pressure while delivering consistent, fade resistant braking performance, particularly when loaded, towing a trailer, or descending long mountain passes.

Worn brake pads produce a squealing warning sound, reduce stopping power, increase stopping distances, and will eventually damage the brake disc if the friction material wears through to the metal backing plate.
