Description
Function of the Fuel Injector
The fuel injector is an electronically controlled valve that sprays a precisely metered amount of fuel directly into the combustion chamber (direct injection) or intake port at exactly the right moment. Delphi injectors are OEM-specification units matched to the engine’s fuel system. The ECU controls injection timing and duration to optimise combustion efficiency, power, and emissions. A faulty injector causes misfires, rough idle, poor fuel economy, black smoke, and reduced power.
Common Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
A generic OBD reader shows the 5-character code; the GWM system stores the 7-character extended form shown in brackets.
- P0201 [P020100] — Injector 1 drive circuit — open circuit (cylinder 1)
- P0262 [P026200] — Injector 1 drive circuit — short, high/low side (cylinder 1)
- P0263 [P026300] — Cylinder 1 contribution/balance — misfire traced to injector 1
- P062D [P062D00] — Injector group 1 drive circuit — short to ground
