Function of the Diesel Injector

The diesel injector sprays precisely metered fuel at extremely high pressure directly into the combustion chamber. Modern common-rail injectors can fire multiple times per combustion cycle for smoother, more efficient burning. A faulty diesel injector causes rough running, misfires, excessive smoke, poor fuel economy, engine knocking, and can damage the catalytic converter.
