Description

Function of the MAP Sensor

The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor measures the air pressure within the intake manifold. The ECU uses this data to determine engine load and adjust fuel injection, ignition timing, and boost pressure control. A faulty MAP sensor causes incorrect fuel delivery, rough running, poor performance, excessive smoke, and check engine codes.
