Function of the Glow Plug Relay Timer

The glow plug relay timer controls power to the glow plugs, which pre-heat the combustion chambers in diesel engines for cold starting. It manages the glow plug heating duration based on engine temperature and continues post-glow after starting for smoother cold running. A faulty relay causes difficult cold starts, extended cranking, white smoke on startup, and rough idle when cold.

• P0380 [P038000] — Glow-plug controller — communication fault with ECU
