Description
Function of the Air Flow Sensor
The air flow sensor (MAF sensor) measures the volume of air entering the engine, providing critical data to the ECU for fuel injection calculations. Accurate airflow measurement ensures the correct air-fuel ratio for efficient combustion, good performance, and low emissions. A faulty air flow sensor causes erratic idle, poor acceleration, black smoke, increased fuel consumption, and a check engine light.
Common Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs)
A generic OBD reader shows the 5-character code; the GWM system stores the 7-character extended form shown in brackets.
- P0102 [P010200] — Air-flow meter open-circuited
- P0103 [P010300] — Air-flow meter short-circuited
Why order it from Partszar
A faulty sensor, coil or starter feeds the engine the wrong signal, so it runs rich, misfires, will not start or drops into limp mode, and the fault light stays on until it is fixed. Once this is replaced the ECU gets what it expects and the vehicle runs the way it did when it was new.
