Description
Function of the High-Pressure Fuel Pump
The high-pressure fuel pump generates the extreme fuel pressure required for modern direct injection systems. It takes fuel from the low-pressure supply pump and pressurises it to over 1,600 bar for diesel or 200+ bar for petrol direct injection. A failing high-pressure pump causes hard starting, loss of power under load, engine stalling, and fuel system pressure codes.
