Description
Function of the Cylinder Head Gasket
The cylinder head gasket is one of the most critical seals in the engine. It sits between the engine block and cylinder head, sealing combustion pressure, oil passages, and coolant channels simultaneously. A blown head gasket allows coolant to mix with oil, combustion gases to leak, or coolant to enter the cylinders. Symptoms include white exhaust smoke, milky oil, overheating, coolant loss, and bubbles in the coolant reservoir.
