Function of the Breather Hose

The breather hose (crankcase ventilation hose) routes blow-by gases from the engine crankcase back into the intake system for re-burning. This prevents pressure buildup in the crankcase and reduces harmful emissions. A cracked or blocked breather hose causes oil leaks from engine seals, rough idle, increased oil consumption, and a whistling sound from the engine.
