Description
Function of the Secondary Air Injection Solenoid Valve
The secondary air injection solenoid controls the flow of fresh air into the exhaust system during cold starts. This extra air helps the catalytic converter reach operating temperature faster, reducing cold-start emissions. A faulty solenoid causes increased cold-start emissions, a check engine light, and may cause the vehicle to fail emissions testing.
