Description
Function of the Clutch Master Cylinder
The clutch master cylinder converts the force from the clutch pedal into hydraulic pressure. This hydraulic pressure travels through the clutch line to the slave cylinder, which actuates the clutch release mechanism. A failing master cylinder causes a soft or spongy clutch pedal, clutch pedal sinking to the floor, difficulty shifting, and fluid leaks at the pedal box.
