Description

Function of the Intake Manifold Pressure Sensor

The manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor measures the air pressure inside the intake manifold. The ECU uses this data to calculate engine load and adjust fuel injection and ignition timing accordingly. A faulty MAP sensor causes rich or lean running, poor fuel economy, rough idle, hesitation, and a check engine light.
